New Independent Junior Group Leader at the IRI Life Sciences
We are glad to announce that in November 2016, David Garfield will join the IRI Life Sciences as our new Independent Junior Group Leader for “Molecular Evolutionary Biology”. Currently as postdoctoral fellow at the EMBL Heidelberg in the lab of Eileen Furlong, David will establish his lab at the IRI Life Sciences and enrich our scientific research spectrum with his work studying developmental regulatory Networks.
Retreat IRI Graduate School
From September 7th – 9th, PhD students of the IRI Graduate School went to Chorin for their second retreat to intensify interdisciplinary discussions within the IRI Graduate School. Besides up-to-date research talks by each students about their doctoral thesis projects, participants enjoyed the visit of the Brewery Chorin and swimming in the lake. As guest speaker we could welcome Thomas Wagner from Humboldt-Innovation who provided insights into how to start business straight out of university and gave us an overview of project ideas of funded EXIST applications.
Open Master student position
Together with Helge Ewers, Membrane Biochemistry Group at the FU, Simone Reber is looking for a master student to work on the “Imaging the Neuronal Microtubule Cytoskeleton”. For further information please click here.

Open Call for collaboration project with Tel Aviv University
The Tel Aviv University and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin wish to intensify their cooperation in the field of biological and soft matter physics. Therefore they call for proposals to be funded in a bilateral funding scheme. The program is coordinated by the IRI for the Life Sciences and the IRIS Adlershof.
Applicants of a bilateral collaborative project within this call must submit their joint application until January 3rd, 2016. Please find more information on the application process within the Call for Proposals.
