The Garfield Lab is looking for scientists / Master students / PhD students

Interesting project in single cell techniques - potential for Masters or PhD thesis.

The lab headed by David Garfield (www.garfieldlab.org) is looking for scientists (Master Level or above) on a fellowship basis for 3 different projects:

1) Adapt a single-cell ATAC-Seq and RNA-Seq protocols for use with non-traditional model animals (jelly-fish, worms, and other things that live in the sea). The project itself has a strong biochemical component.

2) Characterising the onset of zygotic transcription in early sea urchin embryos using allele-specific RNA-seq

3) Quantifiying natural selection on coding and non-coding DNA associated with adaption to deep water habitats in North America sea urchin species

Projects 2) & 3) require previous familiarity with the command line and some knowledge of R or Python (ideally both).

As such, the jobs are appropriate for biochemists, geneticists, or any life science student with strong lab skills and a curiosity for how things work. The collaboration could potentially be expanded for a masters or even a PhD project.
